My Style Monday: Spain Edition

Hi guys! This is Mike checking in from Spain. For this My Style Monday, I've decided to show you guys what I brought for my trip to EspaƱa.

Starting from the bottom we have a nice pair of Bostonian oxfords. Not only are they
fashionable and comfortable, but they're extremely versatile and can be worn with almost
anything. From walking the streets of Toledo or going to a Jazz concert in Madrid, they are
a great choice, but for the more casual events I also brought my OTW Van's. These are great
for walking on the beach or in the hotel.

Moving up, I'm wearing some nice khakis or jeans from Old Navy, which, as I mentioned in
the last MSM, is my favorite place to buy bottoms because of the fit and quality of their pants.
I also brought a pair of gray, Italian wool pants for times when I want to dress up more. I also
brought some nice, prep length shorts for the warmer weather.

For the top, I brought a few express and old navy shirts, in nice spring collors. I layer these
with a v-neck from aeropostale, an express leather jacket, and sometimes a nice Calvin Klein
sports coat, depending on the weather.

Finally, I finish off my look with some accessories like my black leather band watch, a nice tie, and a light fedora.

Thank you to all our dedicated followers, and be sure to check back soon for my main post on
Spain.

Next Stop: Spain

Hi everyone, Mike here, this post doesn't have any fashion advice, but rather is an update on what's going to be happening on the blog soon, so let's jump right in.

Over spring break, I am heading over to Spain, moving between a few cities there (Madrid, Toledo, Cordoba, and Granada). This offers me the unique opportunity to be able to get you guys a look at European fashion, often said to be the best fashion in the world. When you think fashion, you think of Europe. Anyway, I think it would be really interesting to show you guys both what I wore over there and what the locals were wearing. I'm also going to be going to clothing stores around Spain to show you what clothes are being sold and bought by these fashionable people. I know this is a short post, and we haven't posted anything of substance for a while, but we are working hard creating new content and getting ready to show you guys some really cool stuff! Be sure to post your fashionable pictures on instagram with #suityourselffashion for a chance to be featured.

My Style Monday 2

Hello all! It's Quinn here with our every other week, My Style Monday! Since spring is coming up, I'll show you a few styles I like to wear for this in between weather.

Shorts
I tend to wear more colorful and match shorts. I usually will not wear sport shorts unless I am working out. Two of my favorite types of shorts are Cargo/Plaid and Flat Faced(Twill) Shorts. I buy these from Calvin Klein, H&M, and Banana Republic.
 Shirts
When I decide on a shirt, I usually like to wear a lighter color. To avoid wearing a pesky spring jacket, wear a nice warm button down! Always remember a white v-neck always look good. 90% of my shirts come from Calvin Klein.
 Shoes
To still make that classy look pop up, I like to wear light shoes, usually not made of warm material. A lot of my spring shoes come from the Call It Spring! collection.

Accessories
These are usually a year-round keep on. I usually keep on a nice leather Fossil bracelet and a good strong Stuhrling Watch.

"Time For You to Get a Watch!"

We've always heard that cheesy line, "What time is it?" then the snarky reply, "Time for you to get a watch!" But maybe it is time for a watch. Watches are a great way to check out the time quickly and look fashionable, all at once. In this post we'll go over everything you need to know about a watch.

When to Wear a Watch
Simple an easy answer. Whenever you want! Watches are simple accessories and go with anything you wear. But, just to give examples, here is when to wear a watch:
-Parties
-Work
-Casual Occasions
-Interviews
-School
-Whenever!

Types of Watches
There are a lot of watches. They range in band, dial, shape, and color. Depending on what you wear, a specific watch may be better than another. Here are some watches you might want to check out.

Digital
A more common type of watch, usually worn in sports and cheaper than others. Always keeps time right on the dot.

Chronograph
A more sophisticated type of watch. Depending on how you like it, these watches come with a variety of extra features, which are called complications.

Day-By-Date
A day-by-date is a classic watch, but with the extra feature of the date, located somewhere on the dial of the watch.

Diver
Diver watches aren't seen very often, but, when they are, they are usually worn to accentuate a sporty look, these watches are interesting and can be worn underwater at deep depths.

Square
This type of watch is a simple watch, and can be part of any of the categories above. The only difference is the shape.

Designer
These watches are made specifically by their own company. They have their own unique design.

These watch types are the basics when it comes to watch style. Choose a style that fits you and what you do. Consider: what you need your watch to tell you, who will see the watch, where you will wear the watch (underwater, playing sports, business meeting), and what you feel reflects your overall style.

Band Type
There is always a way to change a band type. The band is the part of the watch that wraps around your wrist. Here are a few types:
-Crocodile Leather
-Rally
-Double ridge
-Link/ Bracelet
-Stitching and leather
-NATO Band
-Rubber
(Picture left to right in order.)

Not only do you have to consider the type of watch, but you should also consider the band type. Consider: what color your belt and shoes are, what feels good on your wrist, what is practical for your situation.

As much as we hate to say this, because we know there's nothing more frustrating than a nebulous answer, your watch depends on you. That being said, you can always leave a comment or email us with specific questions about a watch for you. Now that you have the basics of watches, it's time for you to get your own watch!

Clothing Maintenance

This may not be the most exciting topic, but it's a very important one. Clothes that look good can be ruined by bad maintenance. No one wants to see wrinkles and dog hairs all over your clothes, so here are some tips to help you treat your clothes right.

Dry Cleaning
Want clothes cleaned all the way through? That means dry cleaning is for you. It may cost a bit more than just washing your clothes, but it will get every stain out. Dry cleaning is usually used for suits, and buttons downs. It will be like it's brand new when you get it back!

Washing
Washing clothes is especially important. Not only does it remove visible and unappealing stains from your shirt, but it also makes your worn clothes smell and feel fresh again. Oftentimes, people don't know how often to wash clothes so here's a quick guide.
  • Underwear: After every wear.
  • Socks and stockings: After every wear.
  • Sportswear and swimwear: After every wear.
  • Jeans: Five to six wears.
  • Tops: One to two wears.
  • Pants and shorts: Three to four wears.
  • Jackets and blazers: Five to six wears.
  • Coats: Once every two months of wear.
  • PJs: Three to four wears.

Ironing
Ironing is one of two options that you have to make sure your clothes aren't wrinkled. Make sure you know how to do it before you try though. You can end up doing more damage to your clothes by creating creases. Here is an easy manual for ironing a shirt.

Steaming
Steaming is the second option for making sure clothes aren't wrinkled, which takes less skill because it doesn't have the possibility of creating creases. The process is similar to ironing, but rather than pressing out the folds, you simply allow them to fall out under steam.

Hanging
Hanging, while underrated, is an important factor in how your clothes look. Even if you iron them, leaving them wrinkled on the floor can cause more creases in the clothing.

Folding
If you don't hang your clothes, its important to fold them, and fold them correctly. Folding them incorrectly can also cause more wrinkles. Not only this, but taking the time to fold your clothes can help the organization of your closet and make it easier to find clothes when you need them.

Lint rolling
Lint rolling is especially important for dark clothes where hair and dust are very visible. Simply take a lint roller or brush and pass over the clothes a few times. It isn't very difficult and greatly increases the perceived quality of the clothes.

Collar Stays and Oxford Buttons
Keeping your collar down, especially after you iron or steam your shirt, is very important. If there are buttons on the collar button them, if not, insert collar stays into the pockets under the collar. It is important to note that some shirts have sewn in collar stays.
